We caught the train at Portsmouth Harbour to go to London, but for some reason were diverted around Southampton, we had to change to another train at Eastleigh and this was by no means the direct route - but it was a Sunday. We arrived at Waterloo Station at 1.10 pm.
We made our way across Waterloo station, under the clock to the underground and arrived at Wembley Park station
We joined the queues and then set off on the walk to the stadium
Selling and buying memorabilia on the walk way to the game
A heavy police presence
Our team badge on Wembley Stadium - W O W!
Southampton supporters waiting to get into Wembley
So on we walk
Getting closer
Nearly there
Yay - we are in - we found our seats and at this end of the stadium were the Southampton supporters
Seats at the far end for Manchester United supporters
There were 85,264 spectators in Wembley to watch the match and support their teams
Every Southampton supporters seat had a scarf attached to it courtesy of
Southampton Football Club
Imagine when the fans started singing their trade mark anthem
'When the Saints go Marching in'
and 42,000 of these scarves were waved in the air, it what an awesome
sight and the atmosphere was electric!!
A whole sea of red and white supporting their team
COME ON YOU SAINTS
The teams come onto the pitch and start their warming up prior to kick off
Supporters seats are starting to fill up
The score board is ready
Southampton fans eagerly awaiting kick off

This flag was passed around the Southampton fans

Southampton out of administration, but has since passed away

A massive Saints shirt and more fireworks
4.30 pm arrives and we have kick off - Southampton got the ball in the back of the net first but unfortunately this goal was disallowed. Manchester United went on to score 2 goals and then 2 minutes of extra time was announced in the first half. Southampton scored making the half time score 2-1. I have to say that Southampton were by far the better team and the two lucky breaks that United got they were able to score. After half time Southampton came out and again were the better team - the ball hit the bar, then the post but would just not go in the goal. In the 48th minute Manolo Gabbiadini did in fact score for Southampton and the score line was then 2-2.
The fans were up out of their seats, arms raised, scarves aloft and voices signing
On they play but sadly in the 87th minute Manchester United managed to get the ball
between the posts again - goal - final score 3-2!!
They won and we lost, oh my goodness there is no way
Southampton disgraced themselves - they played their hearts out, but just could not score.
A great game, a great day out and we played at Wembley
The best day ever!!
Thanks for popping by and hope you enjoyed my day at
Wembley
